Moose Hunt Facts

Moose in our area inhabit vast areas of clear cuts, swamps, and lakes and rivers - all surrounded by wilderness forests. In order to reach some of these areas that are not accessible by vehicle, we suggest you bring your ATV's. Your guide will provide transportation by vehicle for you if required, but ATV's are the only way into some remote areas. Your guide will be with you at all times and will be carrying a rifle in case of a threat by Bear or Wolves. You will be in sight of your
guide at all times.

Set up is twice daily - very early in the morning before daylight and late in the afternoon with a lunch break in between. The first hour is very critical in the morning and the last hour before dark in the afternoon, so extra awareness must be exercised at these times.

Your guide will scout different locations in the weeks leading to your hunt dates. Finding fresh sign of active moose is always the first key to a successful hunt, which your guide will document and report to your Outfitter daily. Then the decision will be made as to where to begin your hunt in the most active location.

BOW HUNTERS ...

Our Archery Moose Hunts are organized professionally with guides and your Outfitter reporting moose sightings and signs throughout the year. We begin to scout heavily in mid July for Moose activity in many different locations.

If you require a Guide, he will take you to the most recent activity areas and call - or if you choose to hunt alone without a Guide, we will take you to the pre-selected areas for you to scout for fresh sign. The Guide will position himself in a manner that a Bull is most likely to pass by you to come to his calls - attempting to within a 30 yard range for a shot.

Climber tree stands are recommended - but hunting can be at ground level -
sitting, walking, & stalking.

The ultimate thrill for a Bow Hunter is to have a 1500 pound Bull Moose come crashing and grunting through the dense forest - to stop and stand broadside to you at 20 yards !
