Welcome to Golden Eagle Camp & Outfitting's Black Bear Hunting Package Information!

When you arrive at Golden Eagle Camp, you will check in at the office and then be directed to your fully equipped cabin to get settled in.
All of the cabins are fully furnished, heated, have hot and cold running water, full bathrooms, fully equipped kitchens and bed linens are provided.
There are no TVs, but if you have the energy after a day of hunting and fishing and story telling around the campfire,
you are more than welcome to bring your own TV & DVD players etc.

At 7pm the day you arrive, we will have an information and licensing meeting. Be sure to have your proof of hunting experience with you!

Our Black Bear hunting area consists of approximately 100 bear baits in 300 square miles of crown land,
with the magnificent Montreal River running through the middle.

Our guides begin "lite" baiting 4 weeks prior to the first day of the hunt, to "wake up" the bait areas.
Heavy baiting begins 2 weeks before opening day.
Our baits consist of butcher shop meat scraps, fryer grease and molasses.
At the baits there are big metal drums that the bait is placed in, and bags of meat scraps are hung on the bait tree.

All our bait areas are permanent structures built of wood in trees.
They are checked and then repaired as needed each year to ensure your safety.
It is mandatory that every hunter bring and use a safety harness!

Hunters will need to have vehicles or ATVs to get to and from their stands.
We will be traveling mostly on logging roads, some of which are rough and brushy.

Every hunter is guaranteed to be assigned to an active stand. Every hunter is placed in a "fresh" stand.
That means no one has hunted that stand in that year.
Should the area become inactive or be visited by a sow and cubs, a new bait area will be assigned.

When you harvest your Black Bear, our guides will track, retrieve, gut, skin and quarter your trophy ….after pictures of course!
Then let the festivities begin!
