Fishing Questions

What species of fish are in your waters ?

We have a great population of Walleye, Northern Pike, and Smallmouth Bass in our waters.  Perch can also be found in small groups.  To fish for Brook or Lake Trout requires travel to other areas.

Do you have limits or conditions within your fishing areas ?

Yes.  Our main river system has no conditions

(limits are per MNR regulations).

Some of our back lakes have limits and conditions due to our efforts in stocking.

Most lakes are Conservation limits.

When's the best time to come fishing ?

As per any body of water, Spring fishing always seems the best !  But - Spring, Summer and Fall fishing are all the same !  Conditions change and slow down.  The fish are still there - you just have to work a little harder or have extra patience to catch them !

But normally, from the 1st week in June to mid July is the most productive for the average fisherman.  August and September can have some great fishing days in certain areas and especially on back lakes !

What equipment should I bring ?

You'll need heavy equipment (rod, reel, line, tackle) if you plan to fish for large Northern's.

For Walleye and Smallmouth - medium action rod / reel and 10 - 17 lb. test line.

What can I expect the weather to be ?

Our weather in Northern Ontario can change quickly as compared to anywhere else.  We have hot summers and we have warm summers - it depends a lot on our southern weather in the lower USA.

Do bring summer clothing and heavy clothing also ... in case of a weather change.

What's your success rate ?

We work very hard to keep our success rate

averaging 80% annually.

Our average Bear weighs approximately 225 lbs.

There are many in the 160 lb. range and many in the 300 lb. range.

How many hunters do you have

in camp each week ?

We have a very large Bear Management Area,

so we can maintain 8 - 10 hunters per week.  We operated a 4 week hunt.

What's the best week to hunt bears ?

Any week during our 6 weeks of hunting are the best week !  We hunt 6 different areas - all fresh every week.  We bait all 92 bait areas / stands EVERY DAY, beginning July 15th until the end of the season.

Should I bring my own tree stand ?

No Need.  We have large, wooden constructed stationary tree stands at each bait location.  Very safe and roomy - so if you're a "big guy" - no need to worry.

Will I be hunting in the same stands as other hunters from previous weeks ?

No - each week is a fresh hunt in a new area that hasn't been used by other hunters.

How far is my shot distance ?

Shot distances range from 14 yds. to 30 yds.

Can I hunt with my Bow and my rifle ?

Yes - both.

How high up are the stands ?

Our newer stands have your eyes at 20' up -

some of the older stands, have your eyes at 16'.

Will I have to bait my own stands ?

No ... you have a great, relaxing experience ...

we do all the work !

Do we drive to our stands daily ?

Yes - everyone will pair up - follow their Guide,

and drive to their stands.  Traveling to the stands will be on rough logging roads and brushy trails.

Can I bring a non hunting companion

to film my hunt ?

Yes, non hunting companion rates are listed

on the web page (click below).

Filming of your hunt is not recommended however, due to a very low success rate.

Moose Hunting Questions

What's the best week to hunt moose ?

As in any hunting situation, the first couple days of the season opening are normally the best.  Then - all the traffic and activities in the bush drive the Moose to the depths of the unreachable areas !  After the activities slow down - usually the 3rd week of the hunt - the Moose will go back to normal habitant areas.

Do you sell Moose Hunting packages

with a adult tag included ?

Yes, we have 2 Archery Bull Packages per season and 2 Bull Rifle Packages per season.

What's your success rate ?

Moose Hunting is a much different story

than Bear Hunting !

Hunters have to work to be successful.

There are many areas to scout and hunt.

Success rates normally are 50%.

Success totally depends on the "work" that the

hunters do - scouting, etc.
